Nigerian army speaks out on its interference on the duty of the police force during the Osun State re-run election.
On Thursday, the Nigerian army denied claims that some military personnel were deployed to Osun state to relieve the police of their duty and provide security during the ongoing rerun election.
On Wednesday, ahead of the Rerun election, Lots of military personnel came to relieve the Police of their duties to provide security. In a statement which was signed by the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Col Hassan Mohammed, the report was all false." The Nigerian Army is very much aware of its constitutional roles, therefore,cannot and will never usurp the roles of the Nigeria police during elections,when and wherever the Nigerian Army deploys during elections, it does so to complement the efforts of the Nigerian Police in providing security in aid to civil authority in conjunction with other security agencies."

The Deputy Chief of Mission, United states embassy states Mr David Young commended the INEC For deciding to conduct a re-run election in Osun State.
