EDO STATE POLICE ARRESTS 72 SUSPECTS FOR ARMED ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING AND CULTISM

On Tuesday, the Edo state police command paraded 72 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists that has been terrorizing Benin city for a while now.

The state commissioner of police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo said 58 cult members linked to the killings of eight persons in different locations in Edo state were among those paraded.

There were lots of criminal activities via cultism between rival groups which are: The Italian maffians, The Black Axe, Eiye and Vikings where at a peak between the period of 11th -14th of October 2018.which led to the loss of lives of eight Nigerians.
According to him, the police quickly came in to restore the peace of the environment and confiscated 39 alms, 54 cartridges, 3 battle axes and five fake drinks were recovered from all 72 suspects.

The state commissioner Mr. kokumo gave a breakdown of the suspect which included one 34 years old Patrick Omorodion who was arrested for allegedly killing his younger brother named Imuetiyan Omorodion aged 27 by stabbing him twice in the neck after an argument ensued between them.



On the 10th of October, The police apprehended two kidnappers at five junction Edo state for allegedly kidnapping a 36 yr old lady at the Ugbowo area of Benin city.
The police commissioner explained on the need for citizens to be vigilant and careful, and also report any illegal or suspicious activities to the police for immediate attention assuring them that the state is unsafe for criminals.

One of the cultist who belongs to the Eiye confraternities named Azuka Ike stated that he joined the cult few years ago and was apprehended by the police in Delta state before fleeing to Edo state following the recent gang clash in Delta state with rival cult group.

Precious Okpako, a cab driver, who was rescued by the quick response squad of the Police, commended the Police Force for saving him from the armed robbers, who pretended to be customers
