                      Messi couldn't save Barcelona from loss

Lionel Messi's return to the starting lineup didn't couldn't rescue Barcelona as Real Betis showed great determination
to defeat their opponents at the Camp Nou for the first time in a decade. Real Betis seemed to outsmart Barcelona by using Barcelona's style of approach i.e attacking from the back against them. Barca couldn't cope with Betis game as they dominated the midfield and took the lead via an amazing solo goal by Junior Firpo after 20 minutes.

Veteran Joaquin doubled their lead as Tello's squared ball found him who tapped in.

Messi scored a penalty after the break but an error from Marc-Andre ter stegen saw Giovani Lo Celso add a third for Betis. Vidal's tap in gave Barcelona hope but Sergio Canales goal killed it all. Rakitic was then shown a red card for his second bookable offence and Messi added a consolation as Barcelona lost at home for the first time in two years.
