PRESIDENT BUHARI ONCE AGAIN DECLINES THE ELECTORAL ACT AMENDMENT
3:40 PM 12/7/201
President buhari's special assistant on national assembly matters, Senator Ita Etang states that the president has withdrawn assent to electoral amendment Bill
Senator Enang had a discussion with the state house correspondents today about the issue but refused to give Buhari's reasons.
He stated that the bill has been returned to the National assembly and this is not the first time the Bill has been returned by the President.
According to a letter sent by the President, where he then
gave his reason for declining the bill.
in his own words, he stated that he is declining the Bill because he is concerned that passing a new electoral Bill, this far into the electoral process for the 2019 general elections which commenced under the 2015 Electoral Act, Could create some uncertainment about the legislation to govern the process...any real or apparent change to the rules this close to the election may provide an opportunity for disruption and confusion in respect of which law governs the electoral Process
