FORMER PETROLEUM RESOURCES MINISTER TO BE ARRESTED
On December 4th 2018, Justice Valentine Ashi of a Federal High Court, sitting in Apo, Abuja ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), The Nigerian Police Force, The Department of States Security Service and all other security agencies to arrest Diezani Alison Madueke the former minister of Petroleum Resources within the next 72 hours
According to the Efcc, the arrest order was made following a motion ex parte made before the court by counsel to the EFCC to enable the Commission apprehend and arraign Diezani Alison Madueke for alleged financial crimes in Nigeria.
The efcc officially began investigating the former minister and Jide Omokore, a former Chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Company
on October 2, 2013 for money laundering and official corruption.
Further investigations into the case revealed that Mrs. Madueke as supervising minister of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was found to have engaged in illegal and fraudulent dealings concerning oil transactions, which she entered on behalf of the Federal Government.
Madueke and Omokore, are also alleged to have accepted and given gifts in properties located at Penthouse 22, Block B, Admiralty Estate, Ikoyi, and Penthouse 21, Building 5, Block C, Banana Island, Lagos.
They are both to be arraigned on February 25, 2019 on a five-count charge for the offences, which are contrary to Sections 26(1) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. when the issue was brought up on December 3rd 2018, an application filled for an arrest warrant.
The prosecution told the court that Diezani, who is in the United Kingdom at the moment, jetted out of the country while investigations into the alleged fraudulent acts were ongoing. but has been asked severally to come back home
to face trial.
Yesterday, the court granted the ex-parte motion and ordered all security agencies to provide madueke in the next 72 hours
in order to face the charges against her.

allegations against her within the next 72 hours
