FORMER ENVIRONMENT MINISTER BECOMES EMIR OF NASARAWA
The appointment of Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril as the new Emir of Nasarawa state was as a result of the death of the former Emir Alhaji Hassan Abubakar II, he died last month (November) after a brief illness after which Alhaji jibril emerged as the new emir in a keen contest.

He also added that the governor of the state, Governor Umaru Al-Makura had earlier approved the appointment of Jibril as the successor to late Abubakar II. The governor also approved the selection of Lawrence Ayih as the new Abaga Toni of Toni kingdom in Nasarawa State.
Mr Haruna also added that the Governor Al-Makura was satisfied with the maturity in which the kingmakers displayed the exercise.
Mr Jubril who is expected to tender his resignation as a Minister before assuming his new position as Emir of Nasarawa is also a former Deputy Director of Development control in Abuja, a land reform specialist, and has worked with over 5 FCT Ministers. The new Emir has over 30 years of working experience, 25 of those years were spent as a land officer during the administration of the federal capital territory, where he was a good technocrat with specialisation in urban renewal, spatial data management and
land information system Nasarawa Geographic Information System (NAGIS) where he was fondly called the NAGIS brainbox
