The African Development Bank (AFDB) is funding the Nigerian Transmission Expansion programme with the sum of $410m

The Managing Director of the Transmission Company Nigeria, Usman Mohammed, stated that some of the lines which are under construction will carry much more megawatts of electricity, compared to the number of megawatts of electricity produced in many other transmission lines.
Director Usman explained further by describing the lines as chord lines which supply more megawatts. He also added that one of the projects was the Alaoji-Owerri-Onitsha line
